Dr. Dre was handcuffed and cited outside his Malibu home Monday, July 25, after he was accused of pointing a gun at a man blocking his driveway.

According to NBC Los Angeles, police responded to the 51-year-old music producer’s home at approximately 11:15 a.m. local time on Monday “regarding an allegation that a man had brandished a gun.”

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies reportedly spoke to a man who claimed Dr. Dre (né Andre Young) aimed a handgun at his car while it was stopped on Pacific Coast Highway near the rap icon’s home.

Police arrived at the Beats Electronics cofounder’s residence, where they searched, handcuffed and briefly detained him in a patrol car during their investigation. Dr. Dre was reportedly cooperative with the officers and consented to their search.

According to the “Let Me Ride” rapper, the unidentified man in the car was blocking his driveway, so he asked him to leave. The man allegedly drove away before returning and parking in the same location. Dr. Dre told deputies that he pulled out his cell phone to record the man, who drove away shortly after.

No weapon was found at the entrepreneur’s Malibu home, despite the driver’s claims. NBC reports the Doc was not arrested nor taken into custody, but he did receive a citation.

Dr. Dre most recently made headlines last year when he released his third solo album, Compton. The LP was inspired by the Academy Award–nominated biopic Straight Outta Compton, which detailed the story of his former Compton-based hip-hop group, N.W.A.
